Review Crystal's Climate Action Plan
Posted on 12/02/2025
The City of Crystal is inviting residents, businesses and community stakeholders to review and provide feedback on the draft Resilient Crystal Climate Action Plan.
The draft plan represents the culmination of a community-driven planning process that combined technical analysis and community input. From February through May 2026, a 24-member planning team composed of residents, commissioners, city staff, and council representatives participated in a series of workshops to identify local climate challenges and develop strategies for a more resilient future.
The plan is informed by several technical studies and foundational documents, including a climate vulnerability assessment, community-wide greenhouse gas inventory, ground cover and tree canopy study, renewable energy potential study and climate action baseline assessment.
More than 180 community members contributed to the planning process through surveys, public meetings and the city's Crystal Diary 2035 storytelling initiative. Through these engagement efforts, residents shared their priorities, concerns and ideas for how Crystal can continue to thrive in the face of changing environmental conditions.
While the plan focuses on preparing for future climate challenges, many of its recommendations also provide broader community benefits. Proposed actions are intended to support community-wide cost savings, improved air and water quality, enhanced parks, trees and natural resources, and a higher quality of life for current and future residents.
Community feedback will help shape the final plan before it is presented for adoption. Residents are encouraged to review the draft plan and share their comments.
