36th Ave. Mill and Overlay Project
In the summer of 2018, the cities of Crystal and New Hope will jointly perform maintenance resurfacing of 36th Ave. N. between Louisiana Ave. and Winnetka Ave. The work in New Hope will continue further west of Winnetka Ave.
New Hope will serve as the project's lead agency in charge of design and project management; both cities will share responsibility for each's respective costs.
The work will consist of concrete spot repairs and milling off of the existing asphalt surface from a 2-inch to an 8-inch depth, repaving with new asphalt surfacing material and installing new lane markings. In advance of the resurfacing, and with the assistance of Hennepin County crews, traffic signal upgrades will also be made to the existing signal system at 36th and Winnetka Aves. Video vehicle detection will be installed to replace the existing, dated loop detection equipment. Permissive left turn allows (yellow flashing arrows) will also be installed to improve intersection efficiency.
Road closers, detours and traffic delays can be expected. More information and schedules will be posted when they become available.
